I had the sudden urge to take some moody black & white aerial landscape photos.  Unfortunately my private Jet was temporarily unavailable, so no go. Decided instead to "photograph" it using 3D and Photoshop while waiting for my other renders to finish. Too me it doesnt really matter how the image was conceived, what matters is the feeling you get when seeing it.

Leaving Constantinople

Well it's my last day at work before I leave for Singapore. I made this concept representing the beggining of a long, happy and hopefully safe journey. The picture was originally a test for creating 3D generated water. Now to shut down this machine one last time.

and the base 3D model used to paint over.

The Iron Giant

Posted: January 19th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Photoshop Freestyle | No Comments »

I haven't done a Photoshop Freestyle session in a while, much due to having allot of work on my table, but also the holidays and lack of inspiration. The Swedish winter-season and the lack of sunlight really gets to me which at times feels like I'm on the verge to a depression.  Anyway, I'm trying to fight it and get the brain working again by feeding it with colors and light.  Here is a little piece paying homage to one of my favourite movies, The Iron Giant (1999), directed by Brad Bird.

Bolywool – Through a Century

Posted: October 5th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Photoshop Freestyle, Portfolio Works | 1 Comment »

The following cover art was developed for the band Bolywool and the official release of their first album Through a Century. Bolywool is Calle Thor, Oskar Erlandsson and Cristian Ekman. The concept for the design was inspired by the music itself but also Öland, the place where I and some of the band members  grew up. Through a Century will finally be released on October 14th.

"For those who are not familiar with the history behind the title, Through a Century, you are in for a treat. Once upon a time, in a kingdom not far from here, in a city by the sea, two lads sat in their living room and recorded demo songs in Cubase with the worst karaoke microphone the world has ever seen. It was the very same session(s) that spawned songs like In a Dreamer's Dream of Dreams, Sleep Today Away, So Low Down and The Origin of Nothing to name a few. On a cold February day, Century Blues was written, and the lyrics featuring the repeated stanza "through a century". As some of you might have noticed, the thematic canon of Bolywool, besides playing on intertextuality etc, is the notion and concept of time in relation to variable x (and sometimes even y). Thus, this title is, from our point-of-view, spot on since it sort of encompasses all these extended symbolisms and metaphors in only a mere three words."

Mood Swings

The following is a set of images that are part of some older Photoshop Fresstyle sessions I had, pretty much reflecting my mood at the time. Thats the beauty of these sessions as they do have a therapeutic effect, helping me to wrap my head around things. Some people do sports to clear their mind, others maybe go for a long walk. I make images. diving

Photoshop Freestyle of the day. Every once and then i sit down and create images, out of other images. The goal is purely to reflect an emotion or a thought. Sometimes its something I've been thinking about for days and sometimes the subject comes to me in a spur of the moment. This way of creating images came about when I wanted to take certain photographs but the lack of resources put my ambitions to a hold. This was and still is a way around that issue.
